Among the most unique of Blue Hummingbird Coffee’s lineup, Laurina beans naturally have significantly lower caffeine content. These beans do not go through the traditional decaffeination process, thereby retaining all its flavor and quality. Furthermore, drying the berry on the bean introduces the sweet aroma. The cup opens with a strawberry aroma and finishes with sweetness of cane sugar.

Every Cup of Coffee Has a Story
Laurina beans are a naturally occurring low-caffeinated coffee. This notoriously difficult to grow varietal was discovered in the 18th century in Africa. Its lack of caffeine, a natural pest deterrent, made Laurina more susceptible to insect damage. This varietal almost disappeared, but in recent years, it has resurged to become a popular alternative to decaffeinated coffee.
This microlot comes from the Doka Estate. The farm is located on the foothills of the famous Poas Volcano and has been owned and operated by the Vargas family for many generations. The unique microclimates and Volcanic soils of the region give this microlot a soft and delicate cup profile.
