Today, we are excited to announce our partnership with Families Forward, an incredible organization dedicated to helping families in need achieve self-sufficiency. This collaboration is a testament to the strength of our community connections and our shared commitment to making a difference.
Announcing Our Canned Food Donation Drive
In light of our partnership, Blue Hummingbird Coffee is proud to announce that we will be hosting a canned food donation drive to support Families Forward. For the next three months on the last week of the month, we invite all our customers and community members to join us in this effort. Non-perishable food items, especially canned goods, can be dropped off at any of our cafe locations.
How We Got Connected
Our journey with Families Forward began through the efforts of many community partners. Our partner at Five Point has been instrumental in bringing us together. Their dedication to community service and their strong network of connections provided the initial introduction. The volunteering club at Rancho Mission Viejo also provided a jump start to getting to know each other.
However, what truly cemented our relationship was the consistent support and engagement from the wonderful staff at Families Forward. Many of them frequented our cafes, not just as patrons but as advocates for their mission. Their passion and dedication resonated with us, and we quickly realized that our values aligned perfectly with those of Families Forward.
Why We Decided to Partner with Families Forward
The decision to partner with Families Forward was driven by a pressing need that became evident as we learned more about their work. With the ongoing challenges posed by inflation, Families Forward's pantry has been running critically low. The summer months bring additional strain as children, who usually rely on school meal programs, are at home and require more resources.
We recognized an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by leveraging our spaces to support Families Forward in their mission. The need for non-perishable food items, especially canned goods, has never been greater. By partnering with Families Forward, we aim to address this urgent need and help ensure that no family in our community goes hungry.
The Mission of Families Forward
Families Forward is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families in Orange County who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Their mission is to prevent and end family homelessness by providing access to housing, food, counseling, education, and other critical support services.
Founded in 1984, Families Forward has grown from a small group of community volunteers into a comprehensive service organization that empowers families to regain stability and achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Their holistic approach addresses both immediate needs and the underlying issues that contribute to homelessness, ensuring that families receive the support they need to thrive.
