Every Cup of Coffee Has a Story

Laurina beans are a naturally occurring low-caffeinated coffee. This notoriously difficult to grow varietal was discovered in the 18th century in Africa. Its lack of caffeine, a natural pest deterrent, made Laurina more susceptible to insect damage. This varietal almost disappeared, but in recent years, it has resurged to become a popular alternative to decaffeinated coffee.

This microlot comes from the Doka Estate. The farm is located on the foothills of the famous Poas Volcano and has been owned and operated by the Vargas family for many generations. The unique microclimates and Volcanic soils of the region give this microlot a soft and delicate cup profile.
