The Red Bourbon comes from the Acatenango region on the same volcanic slopes that first started BHB coffee. Bright cherry leads the cup, roasted hazelnut settles into the body, and a soft nougat sweetness rounds out a finish that's warm and velvety. It's full-bodied without being heavy, and exactly as good as it sounds.

Every Cup Has A Story

Acatenango is one of Guatemala's most celebrated coffee-growing regions, and for a good reason. Sitting at high altitude on a volcanic ridge, the region offers the kind of growing conditions that specialty coffee thrives in — rich mineral soils, low humidity, intense sun, and cool nights that slow the cherry to its fullest expression.

Red Bourbon is an heirloom varietal known for its full body, natural sweetness, and layered fruit character. Washed processing brings out the best in it — by removing the fruit cherry before drying, the cup stays clean and focused, letting the varietal's depth come through. What you get is a coffee that's both structured and warm: roasted hazelnut, a hint of nougat, and that bright cherry quality that makes it immediately memorable.

This is a single-estate private lot, grown by Christian's family on the same land they've grown on for generations.

BHB Notes

The Red Bourbon Reserve is a natural pour over coffee, where the cherry brightness and roasted hazelnut notes have room to fully express themselves. French press brings out the full-bodied velvety character beautifully, and drip keeps it approachable for an everyday brew without losing any of the complexity. If you're new to single-estate Guatemala coffees, this is as good a starting point as any. If you already know, you know.
